Known for her work bringing female bodies in radical settings together with animals, vegetables or fruits, Shayma Aziz’s work discusses gender through cultural references, symbols and metaphor. The paintings are disorienting, choreographed, and playful. In ‘Woman Reclining with Banana’, the prolific Egyptian painter and visual artist Shayma Aziz re-imagines her famous work by the same title from 2007, recreated here as a non-fungible token. By turning the two dimensional painting into an animation, Shayma’s work creates an eternal loop of her questions on sexuality, immortalized here on the blockchain
