GROWTH نمو

GROWTH is a series of digital paintings by Egyptian designer and visual artist Omar Houssien. Started during - and as a reaction to - the first Covid-19 lockdown, this series takes an introspective approach as it explores the themes of self-care and growth. With the world brought to a halt, there was an opportunity to reconsider our lifestyles and the effects capitalism, as well as the impact of the fast pace of life on us. The year 2020 was fraught with global and personal crisis, yet forced many into a pause and stillness that challenged us, prompted us to reevaluate and change existing structures, and to act upon said change. The artwork focuses on how growth through struggle, resilience, introspection and adaptation became central to personal experience. A series of 3 digital paintings, with vivid and bold colors combining human and plant figures into an intertwining encounter. GROWTH blurs the lines between humans and plants, overcoming the false dichotomy between nature and humankind, and visually reminding us that our wellbeing and that of the world around us are but one thing.

مجموعة لوحات نمو هي أحد الأعمال للفنان المصري والمصمم عمر حسين. في أثناء المراحل الأولى من الحجر الصحي الدولي أثناء بداية جائحة الكورونا، ‏بدأ يستكشف الفنان علاقاته مع ذاته ومع النمو الشخصي. ‏قد تحول عام 2020 إلى عام ممتلئ بالأزمات ‏الدولية والشخصية. تلك الأزمات أجبرت العديد مننا إلى اخذ لحظات من الصمت والسكون. لحظات كانت صعبة على معظمنا ولكنها سمحت لنا بإعادة النظر في العديد من المنظومات حولنا. ‏‏تتمحور هذه اللوحات حول فكرة النمو والتغيير الذاتي واستكشاف الذات الداخلية من خلال ثلاث لوحات رقمية ممتلئة بالألوان القوية وأشكال تجمع الجسم البشري مع النباتات التي تنمو في صورة تفاؤلية تدعو إلى التذكير بأن مستقبل البشرية مرتبط بمستقبل الطبيعة
